One of the major-league bats Mr. Sports scored when he was a kid hanging out at the ballpark all the time.

Bats, balls, hats — being a kid in a large city sure was a lot of fun. And you could get into the stadium real cheap, not like today when a kid has to drain his bank account to go to one game.

Maybe this fall, I will chronicle the story of scoring a jersey from an NFL Pro Bowl player in exchange for a 25-cent RC can. True story.

Trayvon Martin killed because he was wearing a hoodie. What is wrong with people?

It is just so ridiculous that Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was shot to death while walking home from the store. I don’t buy the self-defense story spun by shooter George Zimmerman.

There is nationwide outrage due to the incident and even President Obama has weighed in about the killing. You know it’s a big deal when the president takes time to speak about a killing somewhere.

“If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon,” the president said.

It reminds me that we live in one messed-up society — especially when there are dorks like Geraldo Rivera who say the “hoodie” is the reason for Trayvon Martin’s death.

As far as I can tell, hoodies don’t kill. Disturbed lunatics with guns who are masquerading as Neighborhood Watch leaders in Florida do.

There are a flurry of investigations going on and MrSportsBlog is going to do its part. My Twitter avatar will be the above photo until Zimmerman is arrested and charged in the killing of Trayvon Martin.
