Weekly link … singular — 49ers went from NFC title games to awful rather quickly

Weekly links didn’t happen on Thursday and that is OK.

Hanging out with two of the cool nieces on Thanksgiving night always rates as more fun than nearly anything else on the planet.

So all the previews associated with college football games are now moot since the week’s games have been played.

But wait, there is the matter of this one NFL preview.

Just think about how the San Francisco 49ers went from making it to the NFC Championship Game in three straight years to being flat-out awful.

The 49ers have matched the franchise record of nine consecutive setbacks held by their horrendous 1978 squad. They go for the dubious record on Sunday when they visit the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins have won five straight games and have a red-hot running back in Jay Ajayi.

And San Francisco ranks last in the NFL in stopping the run.

So you can see where this is going … Chip Kelly is about to become known as coach of the team that lost the most consecutive games in 49ers’ history.

Another reason worth posting this preview — I’m still amazed to learn that my work has been running in the New York Times.

Here is the stellar 49ers-Dolphins preview — http://nytimes.stats.com/fb/preview.asp?g=20161127015&home=15&vis=25
