MWC pitch to BCS falls on deaf ears

The Mountain West Conference pitched its college football playoff plan to the BCS earlier this week but a major change isn’t about to occur. BCS officials do like Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson’s proposal to use a 12-person selection committee to choose the BCS participants but aren’t interested in pushing forward an eight-team playoff system. There’s a better chance that waterboarding will become an official Olympic sport, that a Somali pirate will be signed to patrol center field by the Pittsburgh Pirates, or that baseball nut/actress Alyssa Milano will quit dating wealthy baseball players in favor of sports writers or fast food cooks than a full-fledged playoff system being instituted. Hold on, my phone is ringing … could it be Miss Milano? … http://www.sdnn.com/sandiego/2009-04-24/sports/mike-sullivan-mwc-pitch-to-bcs-falling-on-deaf-ears
